HITs
Hearts in Training was a new initiative for the year 2009. The HITs team includes children of Hearts of Durham members. They range in age from 5 to 16. We are proud to have inspired our children to find a place in their hearts for giving back to their community. The HITs team have a fresh outlook on fundraising and inspire us to look at what we do and why we do it with a new perspective. We hope that our children will learn many skills from this experience of working together and we know that they will grow into responsible young people who understand the value of living in a community that cares.
The HITs team recently took to the pavement to participate in the Walk for Wishes event held at Rotary Park in Ajax. With friends and family, the HITs team raised over $1300 for Children's Wish. Great Day!
Pennies For Wishes

For two weeks in November, HITs member Carly Peech and her class at Dr. Emily Stowe PS ran a penny drive. They encouraged all of the classes in their school to bring in pennies and compete for first place. The classmates collected, counted and rolled 70,000 pennies and on December 12th, 2011 presented a cheque to Children's Wish for $700. Great job Dr. Emily Stowe for raising $700.
