Building a Stronger Community

2008/2009 - Durham Children’s Aid Foundation

Established in 2004 by the Durham Children's Aid Society, they are located in its partner organization’s new building in Oshawa. The Foundation offers children in need a variety of supports that are not covered by government funding. These include supports such as bursaries for post-secondary education, recreational, educational and enrichment programs, and care/independence kits that help children and youth get a new start.

DCAF also steps in to lend a helping hand with funding medical and dentalcandy_buffet_thumb.jpg care, when other alternatives have been exhausted or are simply not available. In its first four years, DCAF has provided funding for over 50 post-secondary school bursaries for youth, sent approximately 1,800 children to camp, provided hundreds of care kits and other items to children and youth as well as assisting with a hand full of medical/dental funding emergencies.

On behalf of the One Hundred or more children that they have helped I can simply, and proudly say thank you! What you learn as a child, you become as an adult! Thank you for making our world better today, and tomorrow!” - Tim Rider, President, Board of Trustees.
